16 Weeks

Baby Belly in all it's Glory...

I seriously don't think I look this big until I post these pictures, and that when it hits me... I look pregnant!

Since I've only been posting pictures of my belly in all it's glory, I figured you should see it how it looks every day... COVERED in Clothes! This is what I wore to work today.

Since being pregnant I've only been reading the book Your Pregnancy Week by Week. It's a great book that walks you through each week, it explains what's happening to your body, how your baby is growing and what you may be experiencing. It's been a very helpful book, for example, currently baby is 4 2/3 inches from head-to-rump (not including legs). Babies weight is approximately 2 3/4 ounces.
Today I received a super nice email from my BFF Jamee with a list of must read books about parenting. I was so excited to receive the email after work I immediately went to the library to check out all the books (yes, I go to the library! This momma is on a budge and the library is FREE!). But, unfortunately my library didn't have any of the books J recommended, so I went to the parenting section of the library and found some really great books... here's the books I will be reading:
1. Heading Home with Your Newborn - Offers "parent-tested, pediatrician-approved advice, by written by 2 pediatrician moms.
2. Breaking the Good Mom Myth - Every modern mom's guide to getting past perfection, regaining sanity and raising great kids.
3. The Everything Parent's Guide to Raising Boys - A complete handbook to develop confidence, promote self-esteem, and improve communication.
4. Jo Frost's Confident Baby Care, What Need to Know for the First Year from America's Most Trusted Nanny - This book is written by Super Nanny! You know the women on TV! I'm super excited to read the Super Nanny book and I just flipped through it and saw the page on how to swaddle your baby (the Block's are the masters!) and I'm grateful for a step by step pictures of how to swaddle because I swear I was going to wrap the baby the same way by dad taught me to wrap a burrito.

Ok, if you're still with me and you're not tired of reading yet... I've compiled a list of things I've noticed since being pregnant. Enjoy...

Things I have noticed since being Pregnant:

  1. My eyes can’t stay open. I am tired all the time. I literally can’t stay awake past 9pm, and most nights I fall asleep on the couch around 8:30pm. This is so strange for me because anyone who knows me knows I am a total night owl. The upside is that David says he does feel much more rested in the morning after we go to bed at 9pm, which is good since once the baby come I’m sure we’ll be lacking in the rest area for a while.
  2. I don’t recognize my belly button! After getting out of the shower and as I started to rub Cocoa Butter on my belly, I started to scream and I called David over to the mirror. “Who’s belly button is that?” is all I could say. It’s totally strange looking and unfamiliar to any belly button I have ever seen before. David just laughed and walked away, but as I inspected it further I realized I had to find out what the heck was going on. And so, I went to my new source of pregnant girl information, a website called The Bump, I went only the Due in December moms message board and found that I’m not the only one who doesn’t recognize their belly buttons! It was a December mommy epidemic and I made me feel good that I was in the company of many other first time pregnant women who wanted to know, “What’s up with my belly button?” On a side note I was reading on the message board that some women say their belly buttons pop, which I’m assuming means it pops out becoming an outy. All I can say is that just by reading this I felt sick. I grew up with a brother who has an outy belly button and there is nothing I find stranger or less appealing than an outy belly button… AHHH!
  3. Watermelon is my new best friend and chocolate is the enemy? Many people have been asking me if I’ve been having any cravings since being pregnant, I think it may still be too soon to be having any major cravings but I can tell you that I’m obsessed with fruit, grapes, peaches, apples and especially watermelon! In less than 2 weeks I almost ate 2 entire watermelons by myself. And poor David, I caught him trying to eat a few grapes out of the fridge and I nearly bit his head off. Apparently I’m very protective over my fruit. Another strange revelation is that I’m normally a total chocoholic, give me a candy bar and I’d eat it, Reese’s, Snickers, Butterfinger, all old favorites of mine. Now… nothing! I have absolutely no desire and no taste buds for chocolate. I tried to eat a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup a couple weeks ago and it didn’t taste good and I realized I wanted nothing to do with that chocolate bar. Good bye old friend, we had some good times together and I will miss you.
  4. I may be a fire breathing dragon. I never REALLY knew what heartburn felt like until being pregnant! It's insane how uncomfortable it is and for some reason I get it bad and often. I know, I know... I've heard it all before, don't eat spicy food... much easier said than done, I LOVE SPICY FOOD, but since experiencing this crazy heartburn I've been trying really hard to lay off the spicy food. I feel the burning from my chest all the way up my throat and there is nothing I can do to slay this dragon. Trust me, I've tried it all... At work I have Rolaid Soft Chews on my desk, at home I have Pepcid AC, in my car I have Tums and in my purse I have travel Tums.
