Rockabye Baby...

When David and I first started dating we had an immediate connection through music. We are both huge music fans, within our first year of dating we had to have gone to at least 10 concerts. Anyways, we always knew that when we had a children, our love for music was something we would want to share with them. One day last week while I was watching a fabulous reality show on Bravo one of the pregnant women on the show was wearing this funny looking belly bra, and than she explained that it was actually belly speakers! It's call the Nuvo Ritmo Advanced Sound System for You and Your Baby.
After seeing it on TV I immediately went online and found it for sale on Amazon. Before purchasing the speaking I did a little research on music for babies in the womb. Research in human fetal development shows that babies exposed to music, while in-utero, display advanced intelligence, coordination, and learning abilities.
A fetus can hear clearly from 17 weeks of pregnancy.
Babies remember and process sounds heard prenatally and lean to link them with emotions and moods.
So... after reading the research and telling David about it, we both got really excited about being about to share the experience of our favorite music with baby... and so WE ORDERED THE SPEAKERS!
I received them today at work and they are officially my new obsession! The comfy belly harness has a pocket that you plug your ipod into and then your baby can listen to whatever you want and the speakers have a splitter that allows you to listen to whatever it is your baby is listening to.
David and I downloaded these AMAZING albums we found called Rockabye Baby. They are modern musicians/bands whose albums have been turned into instrumental soothing versions for baby! Here our current playlist:
Radiohead
The Cure
Coldplay
No Doubt
The Beatles
The Beach Boys
Smashing Pumpkins

David wanted to get the baby Metallica and Nine Inch Nails but I think that might be a little much for baby at only 20 weeks... we'll save the hardcore heavy metal for 30 weeks, haha!

p.s. the picture above is of baby and I at work rockin' out with our speakers.
