In the hours leading up to giving birth, from midnight until about 3am, I had to walk around the halls of the hospital in order to dialate more before they could check me in (they wanted to send me home, because although my contractions were 3 minutes apart for 3 hours, I was only 1.5 cm dialated). And so, I walked the halls with my mom and david coaching me through very painful contractions, for 3 hours and vomiting 3 times. Finally by 3am I was at 3 cm. and had progressed enough for them to admit me into the hospital. Once, in the delievery room, I immediately information anyone who would listen, that I WANTED AN EPIDERAL! And when a Dr. Jones came to administer my epideral I could not have been more happy... Oh what... yes, I could, I was instantly more happy the minutes after the epideral kicked in. Let me just say, I think you would have to be a crazy person to give birth without an epideral... The epideral took me from pain to bliss in a matter of seconds... all i really remember feeling was how warm and cozy my toes felt, haha. Around 7am I was dialated enough to start pushing... I called these practice pushes because they were just with the nurse and not the doctor, and they were to help bring baby lower and into the position for delivery. I think it was around 8:30am that they called in Dr. Maninskis (not our normal doctor! Dr. Han was at her son's school christmas play and so Dr. Maninskis was filling in for her). Anyways, we loved meeting Dr. Maninskis, she was awesome, upbeat, funny and great at coaching me through labor. At 9:35am on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, Trenton Leighton Leach was born. It was the most proud, emotional and significant moment of my life so far, and David and I are overflowing with happiness and joy.
Here are some of picture from my labor and delivery...
